Mobile ticketing for cinemas – TopTicket solution grants access to Lusomundo Cinemas in Portugal

Lusomundo and TMN clients are now able to receive cinema tickets in their own mobile phones. Mobile phone as admission ticketTopSolutions´ mobile ticketing platform improves customer service. Cineastes can now buy their Mobile Tickets cashless via Internet or by call-center, and received their ticket as a short message (SMS) directly to their mobile phone. At the cinema entrance, the customers simply present their Mobile Ticket to the code readers and got direct access to the movie. Mobile Ticket owners can go straight to their previously reserved seats and enjoy the movie, while others queue up long time at box offices. How it works?![]() This new service offers to customers the possibility to order and purchase tickets online or by calling the call center. Tickets are delivered to the client mobile phones as a special code via a short message (SMS). Additional event-related information such as cinema location, movie, film date, film time and seat designation are displayed in the text message under the Mobile Ticket. ![]() To be admitted to the cinema, clients present their mobile phone screen with the Mobile Ticket displayed to the entrance scanner integrated in a totem. The TopTicket solution is linked to the Lusomundo Cinemas ticketing database, where the Mobile Ticket can be identified and, after validation, access is granted and the ticket-holder can enter the cinema. ![]() Installed in Lusomundo cinemas, custom-made kiosks with a state-of-the-art scanner are used to scan the Mobile Ticket directly from the phone’s screen. Using the built-in GSM-module (GPRS), the kiosk verifies on-line the validity of the ticket against Lusomundo ticketing database and, in case of a valid ticket, prints out unique paper ticket. This success project come forward as an association between TopSolutions, Lusomundo Cinemas and TMN, and clearly points out the advantages Mobile Tickets offer to all involved parties comparing with paper-based tickets. For Lusomundo Cinemas, as the ticketing service provider, the TopTicket system opens a new distribution channel bringing new customers and satisfying existing ones, reducing costs since there is no need of slow and expensive ticket production and distribution.
