TMN and Portugal Telecom CEO’s press conference to present the new m-ticket service at Lusomundo Cinemas   Entitled as m-tickets, Portugal breaks new ground with a innovative way to acquire cinema tickets. This pioneer project comes forward as a partnership between TopSolutions, Lusomundo Cinemas and TMN. With mobile ticketing going to cinema becomes much more pleasant. Greater satisfaction is achieved through convenience of ticket acquisition and higher flexibility with easy and direct access to movies, and no queuing at sales points or cinema entrance. Customers can purchase m-tickets, online on Lusomundo's website (http://lusomundo.sapo.pt/), by calling Lusomundo's hotline (707 246 362) or at the ticket sales points. The ticket comes as an SMS to the customer's mobile phone, and contains a barcode that is scanned by an optical reader.   The m-ticket presentation taked place at C.C. Vasco da Gama Lusomundo Cinema in Lisbon Moviegoers who choose to receive movie tickets on their mobile phones via SMS, get access to cinema through a VIP entrance, situated next to standard entrance, having direct access to movies. At the cinemas privileged entrance, special optical readers are used to scan the Mobile Ticket directly from the phone’s screen. To enter the cinema, the m-ticket holder opens the SMS and holds it to the optical reader at the entrance. The reader then scans it, and verifies the ticket validity. A unique SMS could correspond to single or multiple tickets depending on the number of tickets that customer have acquired for the same movie session. If, for some reason, the handset LCD is damaged, jeopardizing automatic code reading, the system still works. In that case the client can use the pin pad next to the scanner and enter the numeric security code always sent with the message. According Henrique Granadeiro, Portugal Telecom Group CEO, “this technological solution is a practical application at Lusomundo and TMN that proves the transversal benefits of cooperation between the group companies, always thinking in customer service quality". Besides the convenience and security advantages, this system opens a new era regarding ticket acquisition for cinemas or other events. Customers can buy tickets only few minutes before the movie presentation and choose the preferred seat according room availability. Customers can also offer tickets to relatives or friends in an original way or forward tickets in case of impossibility to attend the movie. For Zeinal Bava, TMN CEO, this innovation is an important moment for Portugal Telecom Group, “because it represents the ability to transform technical knowledge and technological capabilities into real improvements on citizens daily life”. During the promotional period of the m-ticketing service, this technology is available exclusively for TMN customers. The m-ticket price is €5, less then a traditional paper-based ticket.
